Squeeze? Yes, still a very popular dance and also a very popular journalistic approach to all types of news, especially with the results of national polls.
The latest example, where there is never a shortage or drought, is Gallup Poll on Climate Change and Extreme Weather. The linked .pdf file only gives questions and answers to questions 14 through 27 in a larger poll: “Moving on to something else, 14. I’ll read you a list of problems environmental issues…”.
The poll is blown by NY Times as:
“One-third of Americans have faced extreme weather in recent years, Survey Results – Hurricanes and winter weather, such as snow, ice storms and blizzards, are the most commonly cited events, according to a Gallup poll. “
Gallup itself says: “Inclement weather affects one in three Americans.” Despite Chubby Checkers’ odd writing at Gallup, at least they’ve properly placed the linked report in “Politics” section.
What did they find? In fact, they found that one in three people have been affected by weather they don’t like. I thought it would be higher than that because Americans always complain about too much or too little: rain, sun, warmth, wind, snow, and other weather phenomena. Some of that weather can be considered “extreme” only if a vehicle significantly more or less than is normally experienced on a daily, seasonal or annual basis.
Kind of “inclement weather”? Since Global Warming has captured the public’s imagination – 43% of respondents said they are worried about climate change, down from 46% in 2020 – the weather has become increasingly difficult. should be colder and more snowy in winter.
Thus 12% of all Americans and 36% of people affected by extreme weather reported that they were affected by these two types of extreme weather: Very cold and Snow / Ice storm / Snowstorm.
Only 5% of Americans are reported to be affected by Extreme heat.
Now Storm and Tornado is an extreme weather phenomenon and affects 6% and 4% of Americans, respectively. There are only two storms and only one of them is a big storm made landfall in the continental United States, major hurricane Ida, causing extensive damage on the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Hurricane Nicholas was a tropical storm until the time before/after making landfall and had almost no hurricane status. In addition, 5% of Americans are affected by It has nothing to do with the weather (but included in the Gallup total) Fire or forest fire and Earthquake.
Oddly, Gallup “adjusts” for Gender, Race, Age, Education, Party ID, and Idea. However, the numbers they used for the “Total” in the Severe Weather question were weighted-adjusted numbers from the Party ID columns.

The most obvious result of the Gallup poll is that the media, including both broadcast and online weather channels, have had great success convincing people that the weather is getting worse. and we’re seeing more and more extreme weather, despite reality proving otherwise. .

Bad weather is a marketing meme developed by weather broadcasters to gain interest, viewership, and market share. You know who they are.
IPPCists use Bad weather attempt to scare the populace into accepting the UN’s IPCC-directed energy policy and bring about draconian political and social changes.
Weather is weather. Sometimes its wildness – always – will always be.
Polls are political – always – always – always will be.
