Medford, Mass. – Please see PETA Vice President Shalin Gala’s statement about an experiment at Tufts University involving amputation of frog legs to see if they can regrow:

The amputation of the legs of delicate and complicated frogs in the lab, as Tufts University experimenters are doing, is just torture. In addition, the anatomy and physiology of frogs are very different from those of humans. Studies show that a staggering 90% of basic research – most involving animals, like the kind of experiments done at Tufts – do not lead to treatments for humans. In order for the millions of people living with a limb loss to have any real hope of being treated, the experimenters should shelve plans to expand these trials to mammals and focus instead on the technology. superior, fit for humans, as detailed in PETA’s Modernization Agreement Study.
