Alex Jones, the talk show host who built his career on spreading conspiracy theories, has agreed to liquidate his assets to pay the Sandy Hook family who sued him for defamation. Jones believes that the 2012 shooting that killed more than two dozen people, mostly children, was faked, inciting people to harass the victims’ families. He was ordered to pay about $1.5 billion in damages.

- 🎧 The sell-off of his assets means families could soon receive payouts, but it won’t be as much as what they owe, NPR’s Tovia Smith reports. Families will have one Jones’s future earnings claim for the rest of his life. Smith said many of the families who sued said stopping Jones’ scheme was more important than any financial gain.
NPR’s David Folkenflik reports that of the Washington Post new publisher and CEO pressure him to drop a story about the newspaper chief’s role in a cover-up scandal.

There is one thing President Biden and former President Donald Trump agree on: Healthcare in America is very expensive. However, the way they want to handle this cost couldn’t be more different. NPR’s Selena Simmons-Duffin breaks everything about health policy before the November election.
- 🚑 Under his presidency, Trump sought to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. He slashed budgets for advertising and navigators — the people who help you find and sign up for an insurance plan.
- 🚑 In addition to reinvesting in advertising and targeting tools, Biden increases subsidies to make insurance plans more affordable. Enrollment has reached a record high nationwide.
- 🚑 Both strive to improve price transparency and high prescription drug prices. Biden implemented a law passed by the Trump administration called the No Surprises Act, which aims to protect patients from exorbitant emergency room bills.
