I really learn your style
What a lovely surprise for Shovel Knight fan – Yacht Club Games has released a huge package of concept art drawn from seven years of development on the retro platformer series. The Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove art asset packs available for download, free, under the Creative Commons 4.0 license.
“We’ve wanted to do this for a long time,” Yacht Club explained on Kickstarter. “The flame of the idea resurfaced in 2013 during the Shovel Knight Kickstarter when someone shared with us a photo of an unknown game developer at a game stuck using Shovel Knight sprites as reference. He is creating artwork for the HIS game that references art from OUR games. We love the idea of allowing other game developers! ”
“So to that end, we are finally realizing one or more of our dreams by publishing Treasure Trove: a nearly 1 gigabyte .zip containing ALL works from 7 years of production by Shovel Knight Treasure. 1 gigabyte doesn’t sound like much in modern video game terms but it’s pixel art, these files are usually measured in Kilobytes. It’s huge and it’s YOUR! ”
The ZIP file contains a raw archive of files from Shovel Knight series, including motifs, animation cycles, backgrounds, etc. Yacht Club Games even teases the possibility of lost and cut content hidden in its depths. To view many raw files, browsers will need to download software that supports extensions like .flc and .pmp. Software Pro Motion LANGUAGE introduced by the Yacht Club Games team.
What a wonderful gift to the community, another sense of the Yacht Club Games continuing to offer their home fan base. And if you want to see all these cool characters in action, then Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove currently available on PlayStation, PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Yacht Club’s next title, Mina the Hollower, is currently under development. Be sure to check out the title of Kickstarter campaignas well as Jonathan Holmes’ Interview with the development team.
