Tom Brady can’t give up. Not two months after the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback announced his retirement from professional football, Brady is returning to the Bucs for his 23rd NFL season.
When the announcement came back on Sunday night, the midfielder said he had some “unfinished business.”
“In the past two months, I’ve realized that my position is still on the field, not in the stands,” he tweeted on Sunday night. “That time will come. But not now. I love my teammates and love my family who support me. They made it all possible. I’ll be back for my 23rd season in Tampa.”
The 44-year-old will return to the Bucs – the last team he played for before retiring – as the longest-running NFL player.
Brady officially announced Retired on February 1after 22 stunning NFL seasons and seven Super Bowl titles – most of which happened during his time with the New England Patriots.
At the time, he said football requires 100% commitment and that it was time for him to spend more time with his wife, Gisele Bündchen and their three children.
Forty days later, he changed his mind.
