India vs Denmark, Thomas Cup Semi-Final 2022: Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankariesdy beat Kim Astrup and Mathias Christiansen in a thriller as India leveled their ongoing Thomas Cup semi-final against Denmark at Impact Arena in Thailand. After winning the first set with a score of 21-18, the Indian pair lost two points in the second match as the Danish pair were forced to decide the winner. In the third set, however, Satwik and Chirag kept their resolve to put India on equal terms. In the opening match, Viktor Axelsen defeated Lakshya Sen in straight sets 21-13, 21-13 to give Denmark a strong start to the draw. The Indian men’s team made history as HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, and Satwik-Chirag led the team to its first semi-final in 43 years and claimed India’s first medal at the Thomas Cup. With the quarter-final against Malaysia 2-2, HS Prannoy won the decisive match, defeating Leong Jun Hao in a row as the Indian men’s team ran onto the field to celebrate the historic feat. On the other hand, Denmark had to overcome a difficult test against Korea.
