This NASA app reveals real-time climate data on Earth; download on your iPhone, Android


NASA’s Earth Now app lets you examine climate data changes on Earth in 3D. Here’s how you can use it.

If climate change worries you and you want to stay informed about it, check out NASA’s Earth Now app. It has been created by NASA’s JPL, a research and development laboratory federally funded by NASA and managed by Caltech. Through this free app, you can explore stunning visualizations of climate change data from NASA’s Earth satellites on a 3D model of the Earth that can be rotated and manipulated for a realistic look. overview of the key indicators of our world.

NASA’s Earth Now app is available on Android’s Play Store as well as Apple’s App Store. The app presents recently visualized global climate data from Earth Science satellites, including surface air temperature, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone and water vapor as well as changes in gravity and sea level. The app description says that “The data set is visually described using a “false color” map. Color-coded legends are provided to indicate the relative strength or weakness of an environmental condition.” The application also provides descriptions of background information on each dataset.

It was developed by the Earth Science Communication and Visualization Technology Application and Development Team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with support from NASA Headquarters.
