As a millennial, I’m not ashamed to say I love TikTok as much as any Gen Zer out there. Recently, I was scrolling through the app while working from home — I mean after work! —And watch not one, not two, but three different videos, all of which cover an affordable, classic staple: LLBean Boat & Tote Canvas Bag ($30). Don’t you like it when the algorithm finds you?
Show off a perfect preppy outfit complete with an LLBean toy, Tiktoker @jesicaelise said: “Very rarely do I let you forget that I spent so much time in private school.” I feel that. The video has gone viral with nearly half a million views and over 500 comments, with users falling in love with the timeless durable tote bag, which debuted in 1944.
I also watched it Video by @aileciajones and then finally @mippapiddleton‘s, in which she says she was influenced to buy tote because of the two aforementioned videos. Lots of people on TikTok love it monogram services provided by the LLBean website and used it to write funny phrases on bags instead of their names.
And if that wasn’t enough proof of its skyrocketing popularity, I’ll also add this: After I featured this story, our social media manager said she She just bought one last week because she saw a picture of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy on Pinterest wearing it in 1997. Meanwhile, Chloe Sevigny and Reese Witherspoon brought it – got it? – the bag in the 2010s.
