Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s rivalry in the F1 circuit has become legendary in 2021 after the duo were locked on points in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. For the first time in nearly five decades, Formula 1 saw such a close contest as the duo entered the season finale at Yas Marina Circuit with 369.5 points each. A controversial race ensued as Red Bull’s Verstappen overtook Mercedes’ Hamilton to win his first F1 world title. Things have not been going well between the two since then.
While Hamilton has gone to the point of calling Dutchman Verstappen a ‘bully’ on the F1 circuit, the latecomer has not taken things lightly. His recent dig at Briton Hamilton is another example of it.
According to a report on Sky Sports, Hamilton and Serena Williams have pledged millions of pounds to become the new owners of Chelsea Football Club. The Premier League club is currently without an owner after Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich distanced himself from the club to save the Blues from any potential sanctions from the UK government due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .
When news of Hamilton, showing interest in being part of a consortium trying to buy the club, surfaced, Verstappen told the PA news agency: “I’m a PSV [Eindhoven] fans and I will never buy Ajax. And if I’m going to buy a football club, I want to be the complete owner and decide for myself, not just a small percentage.
“I thought he (Hamilton) was an Arsenal fan? And if you’re an Arsenal fan going to Chelsea, that’s pretty exciting. But everybody does what they want with their money, so let’s see that. What makes it?”
