These cats just can’t get enough playtime in the water

Most of the cats dislike water, But there are some people who can’t get enough.

Save the cat Nathan and Winnie live in Australia, and they love fresh water adventures with mom and dad, Melissa and Rian.

Melissa and Rian adopted Nathan from their local RSPCA in 2017. The kitten, less than 5 weeks old, was found abandoned in a box by the highway with its mother and two siblings. its.

Melissa said: “We both fell in love with her right away. “We have to wait another five weeks before we can bring her home because she is so young. “

Melissa explains that yes, Nathan is a woman. She and Rian picked the name Nathan (after a character from a popular TV miniseries) as a joke before they got the kitten, but when they brought her home, they liked the name and it was stuck.

Melissa said: ‘It still makes us laugh sometimes and we can’t imagine what else she would be named.

When they adopted Nathan, Melissa and Rian lived near a beautiful beach on the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef, and they thought that visits to the beach would be a good way to get Nathan used to being outside. surname.

“We really wanted Nathan to experience adventures with us and be able to travel instead of locking himself in the house,” says Melissa.

They decided to train Nathan to walking on a leashbut obviously no lanyard needed.

“She followed us, until she was called, and in general (was) a very docile kitten,” says Melissa.

Small water cat

Nathan will happily follow Rian and Melissa as they walk on the beach.

One day, Rian decided to take a quick dip in the water.

“When he walked out, Nathan stayed by his side, to our disbelief!” Melissa said. “She goes all the way to her chest without bothering her at all. Slowly, with more confidence, she would come out deeper and deeper every time we took her to the beach. Now she is a strong swimmer, our little water cat. ”

Winnie creates a Splash

In 2018, Melissa and Rian decided they wanted Nathan to have some company while they were working, so they visited the RSPCA where they found Nathan.

Melissa said: “We took Nathan with us to check on the cats.

Most of the kittens there were scared or hissed at Nathan. 12 weeks old Winnie, another black cat, was the only one brave enough to get to the front door of the cage. She touched nose with Nathan.

“We thought it was a good sign and we brought Winnie home that day. We like to think that Nathan chose Winnie,” said Melissa.

Like Nathan, Winnie had a rough start. She was found lounging alone at a surf club on the beach.

Surprisingly, Winnie’s first swimming experience was very similar to Nathan’s.

“Rian ventured in that clear water and Winnie followed and she swam her first path,” says Melissa. “She didn’t even need to watch Nathan swim first. We are very proud of her. Now she’s probably more adventurous in the water than Nathan.”

Unless they’re adventuring with Melissa and Rain, and Nathan and Winnie are house cats.

Kyle the Mermaid-Cat

Thousands of miles from the sunny beaches of Australia, Kyle and his cat sibling Simon live with their family in Germany.

Man’s mother, Anna, said Simon was a lone cat when she decided to make a friend for him. She saw on Facebook a post by a local shelter, with a picture of a kitten looking very thin and sad.

“We immediately fell in love with him, we immediately wrote letters and applied for adoption,” she said.

Kyle is very young and his history is not known.

Ms Anna said: ‘They informed us that the boy had been separated from his mother too soon and the authorities had to step in, so they could not say the exact age of the boy but only assumed he was 8-9 years old. weeks old”.

“By chance, we then found the first adoptive family with Kyle shortly after he was found, who told us the whole story of where he came from,” she said.

Anna said little Kyle lived on the street. It was just a few weeks old when someone picked it up and kept it like a baby toy and fed it bread.

Anna said: ‘They had to be very cruel to him, because the vet confirmed that he had lost the tip of his tail, either it was clipped or just fell off.

He was very malnourished when he came to his first foster family.

Anna said: “She didn’t even think Kyle would make it the first night. “She also thinks they didn’t give him water, as he appeared to have first come into contact with water at her house – perhaps that explains his love for it.”

Anna said Kyle was immediately very emotional.

“You could see that he had separation anxiety and would follow me everywhere, sleep with me or my daughter in bed and be very loving and sweet,” she said.

Kyle’s obsession with water started with him repeatedly turning the bowl of water upside down or trying to bathe his feet in the bowl.

“Then I noticed he was always curious about my use of the sink,” says Anna. “He would always sit next to me and watch me, nor would he run away like any normal cat would when water splashed on him.”

She decides to let the water in the sink wash away and she invites him to touch it by calling him.

“He was careful but unafraid and immediately fiddled with the faucet,” she said. “Things escalated quickly, the next thing I knew he was showering and splashing in the sink every time I let him, even tried to shower with me.”

Now, every time Anna walks into the bathroom, Kyle is there and sitting in the sink, asking her to turn on the faucet for him.

She filmed him bathing friends and family, and some of them begged her to upload a video of him on Facebook. TikTok.

“So I decided to give it a try and it only went viral overnight,” she said.

Anna is happy that Kyle has a good life and can bring joy to everyone.

“People often write to us that it just makes their day a little bit happier when they see him just being himself,” she said. “A little bit of happiness is just enjoying his life no matter what circumstances he has to fight.”
