LOS ANGELES – Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae and Jazmine Sullivan are some of the big stars who used the BET Awards stage to sharply criticize Recent decision of the Supreme Court stripping women of constitutional protections from abortion.
Henson took to the stage as host on Sunday with an uplifting message of “Black Excellence” before she took to the court to overturn the Roe v. The landmark Wade last week. The actor took to the stage after Lizzo opened the show with a flute solo in a glittering gold outfit performing the single “About Dam Time”.
“It’s about time damn we talked about the fact that guns have more rights than women. It’s a sad day in America,” said Henson, thanking Lizzo, who with Live Nation recently donated $1 million. is the proceeds from the tour for Planned Parenthood. “A weapon that can take life has more power than a woman can give life – if she chooses.”
Janelle Monae raised her middle finger towards the Supreme Court before introducing the nominations for best female R&B/pop artist. Her speech received a standing ovation at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Monae then introduced Sullivan as the winner of the category – who begged men to support women.
“It was a tough time for us,” said Sullivan. “I want to be honest with the men: We need you all. We need you to stand up, stand up for us, stand up with us. If you have ever benefited from being one man A woman makes one of the hardest decisions of her life, which is to end a pregnancy, you need to stand it. It’s not just a woman’s problem. Sean “Diddy” Combs will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award – one of the highest honors at the ceremony. The music mogul is the founder of Bad Boy Records, has his own television network, fashion line and three-time Grammy Award winner who has worked with a host of top artists including Notorious BIG, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Lil Kim, Faith Evans and 112.
