Cancer talks a lot about management, which is extremely difficult. Although cancer therapies have come a long way, it is still an extremely serious condition that causes a lot of physical and emotional pain. However, websites, apps and other digital resources can help stay up to date in managing your health and achieving a better quality of life.

Scientists analyzed clinical trials in 11 countries with more than 4,500 breast cancer patients. They are using evidence-based websites, mobile apps or text messaging services as means of digital support. Research shows that these resources have improved quality of life, self-efficacy, and reduced stress and fatigue for breast cancer patients and survivors. In many cases, these digital aids are led by survivors, but scientists say having a doctor or oncologist available to answer questions through Conventional means of digital communication were very important to the participants in this study. The researchers also found that the patients were completely satisfied with the websites available – 71-95% of the participants found these websites useful and the same number of people found them easy to use.

The importance of digital support in healthcare situations has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the lockdown, healthcare facilities have become harder to reach and many services have switched to using the internet. While people are happy that in many parts of the world they can finally have face-to-face appointments, some lessons should still be preserved.

Dr Anna Singleton, lead author of the study, said: “The digital and health landscape is changing rapidly, and we’ve found that breast cancer survivors feel they have options to choose from. evidence-based digital resources that make them more connected and more in control of their health. ”

The scientists stress that digital health support systems are just as important after cancer. Treating fatigue and even when the cancer is gone, it’s important to know how to take care of your healing body and mind.

The sheer volume of information online is often overwhelming. You can google all you want, but in the end it’s always hard to understand that information and find what’s valuable to you. That’s why digital aids – websites, mobile apps or simple means of communication – are such a huge improvement for cancer patients.
