“The pressure is always there”: Babar Azam before the match between India and Pakistan at the 2022 Asian Cup

India vs Pakistan match is one of the most awaited encounter in cricket field. However, fans easily don’t get a chance to witness the two sides’ squabbling in a cricket field as the two teams haven’t played a bilateral match since January 2013. In the midst of all that, the pressure on both sides’ defense also culminated when facing the opponent, the captain of Pakistan. Babar Azam don’t be shy to admit it.

During an interaction with the media, Babar was asked by a journalist if the Pakistani team was putting any pressure on as the team is likely to face India in three matches at the upcoming Asiad 2022 and the team Pakistan’s minister replied in the affirmative.

“Look, what we’re trying to do is just play it like a normal game. Yes, obviously the pressure is different. But like we did at the (T20) World Cup 2021 it’s training. focus on our game and believe in the team and ourselves. This time we will also give our best. The effort is in our hands but the result is not,” Babar said in a video shared by Pakistan Cricket.

It is worth noting that India and Pakistan will face each other on August 28 in Dubai. Meanwhile, with the Super-4 phase which will also see all the teams play against each other in a round robin format, India is likely to face Pakistan for the second time in the tournament as both All teams have a chance to make it to the next round. If both teams reach the final, it will be the third time in which case both India and Pakistan meet.
