March 22, 2022 – The Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championship Series (MATCH), the only tournament of its kind in motorsport, returns for its 9th season with an extended $2.2 million betting schedule from April 16 to October 3 and over $400,000 in cash bonuses for owners, trainers and breeders.
The Series, a competition between horses in four (4) categories, is designed to determine the best horses, their owners and trainers, in the Mid-Atlantic region. The series, which has had to adapt to the complications caused by the pandemic, will be contested this year in Laurel Park, Hollywood at Penn Gaming, Colonial Downs and Parx. Parx will be hosting Championship Day this year.
The grass race is also back on schedule this year. The four divisions are 3 years old and Sprint – Dirt; Filly and Mare Sprint – Dirt; Children 3 years and older – Lawn; and Filly and Mare Long – Turf. There will be five stakes in each split for a total of 20.

The bonus distribution for 2022 offers up to $92,500 per division and $30,000 to the overall champion by points. For each division, the first place pays $30,000 to the owner and $15,000 to the trainer; for the second, $20,000 / $10,000; and third, $10,000 / $7,500. For the overall champion, the owner receives an additional $20,000 and the trainer $10,000.
The 2021 champion is Hillwood Stable’s Cordmaker, who competed in all six legs of the Series. Gelding won three MATCH bets, raked in 49 points, and earned a $60,000 bonus for his relationships.
The Maryland Horse Breeders Association, the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association and the Virginia Breeds Association have agreed to offer a $5,000 bonus to breeders of Maryland, crossbred breeders. between Pennsylvania and Virginia top the overall rankings for a potential total of $30,000.

The original MATCH line launched in 1997 and has been in business for 5 years. It returned to great success in 2018 and is held in 2019 and 2021. The innovative regional series – the only horse race of its kind – combines rich bonuses and bonuses for owners. Owners and coaches compete within a year to a seven-month period.
