The instant classic at the Brickyard looks even better when compared to the other events of the day, a dull Monaco Grand Prix and the rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600. An instant classic at Indy
Josef Newgarden win His second consecutive Indy 500 in true cinematic style. The Penske star takes on McLaren’s Pato O’Ward in a head-to-head battle in the final round. It looks like O’Ward will finally pull through and face the Borg-Warner Trophy. He made a textbook move at Newgarden into Turn 1 to take the lead on the final lap. However, he could not pull far enough away from Penske. Newgarden pulled the McLaren down the back straight and spun his car around the outside at Turn 3. In an all-or-nothing attempt, the pass jammed and Newgarden passed the brick field first.
As Newgarden charged into the crowd to celebrate, O’Ward cried on pit lane after slipping again.
This year’s edition of the Indy 500 is the perfect combination of skillful driving, strategic battles and unpredictable variables. It’s a cocktail that will always keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Double trouble for Larson
The rain continued in Indianapolis meaning the 500-mile classic overlaps with NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. It hurt Kyle Larson’s plans to run in both races. Weather will also play a decisive role in ending the longest race on the Cup Series schedule early. As Larson arrived by helicopter at Charlotte Motor Speedway, rain began to fall on the track and caused a red flag. NASCAR held for hours to try to dry the track and resume racing, but the race was abandoned at the 373-mile mark. It’s hard to imagine why the series waited so long to end the race. Is it because we hope Larson gets some time behind the wheel?

Monaco, It happened
This year’s Monaco Grand Prix will only be remembered by Charles Leclerc finally reverse his lack of success in his home race. He became the first Monagasque driver to win the event since Louis Chiron, the namesake of the Bugatti, in 1931. The first lap was the only notable moment of the F1 race. Kevin Magnussen caused a crash that forced Sergio Perez and his Haas teammate Nico Hulkenberg to recover. Moments before the red flag flew, Alpine rider Esteban Ocon attempted to overtake ambitious teammate Pierre Gasly. The two people made contact and Ocon’s car was launched into the air. The rest of the race is basically a parade.
