Climate science is a hidden and unimportant corner of academia until professors are lucky enough to escape global warming. The idea of global warming apparently caused a spark with the government and media establishments and caught fire. Money and influence abounded from Washington to academia.
In his Farewell address in 1961, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned the scientific-technological elite to depend on government subsidies. Eisenhower feared that the elite would use their influence and expertise to distort public policy for their own benefit. That is exactly what is happening. Global warming is just one of the many scientific frauds nowadays improve the welfare of scientists and officials who promote fraud.
Since the end of the Second World War, the growing influx of money from Washington has contributed to a gradual change in the character of research universities. Money becomes more important than science. Managers focused on money and power have grown in number and become dominant. This character change was recorded in a Essay by MIT scientist Richard Lindzen.
Global warming has provided professors and academic managers with a scientific golden goose. They are determined to stop anyone from killing the goose.
A story has been developed to crush the “deniers” who dare to question the story of global warming. Those who refuse are considered agents of international oil companies. This is somewhat humorous because oil companies are constantly looking for someone to accept their surrender. Not only do the oil companies have no chance of winning the propaganda war with academia and the media, but they don’t even want to try. They are ready to swear allegiance for the story of global warming. They are fully aware that pointless global warming is not a threat to their business. But the mob needed a villain so they weren’t allowed to surrender.
Many people fighting against global warming fraud don’t like the “disavow” label. They see it as an attempt by the global warming mob to corner their opponents with the Holocaust deniers. My feeling is that we too can proudly wear the label and thus destroy its effectiveness.
Those who reject us come from a small group of people with argumentative personalities, scientific backgrounds and jobs or incomes that are immune to retaliation. Deniers are the adult version of the child who says that the emperor has no clothes.
It’s easy for the establishment to describe deniers as vandals. Who are they to challenge the scientific consensus? The fact that a few people turned down actually crackpots didn’t help. But there are many crackpots that advertise fake climates, many of them in most privileged rank of human society.
Climate science groups have spent billions of dollars developing computer models of Earth’s atmosphere in an effort to support the story of global warming. Computer models obey their author. Scientists can manipulate the models to show any outcome that supports the desired conclusion – global warming or global cooling. Kevin Trenberth, undeniably and former head of modeling at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), may have clarified the situation when he said, “There is no model… even remotely corresponding to the current observed climate.”
The beauty of a black box computer program with hundreds of thousands of lines of code is that it is difficult to tell if it is a great work or a useless exercise. Academics dare not criticize anything that brings money into their organizations. When they did, they quickly learned that tenure was a joke compared to the magnitude of the cash flow from Washington.
The average scientists promoting global warming actually believe in global warming. It is easy to believe in theories that bring money. Scholars outside of climate science who can challenge the fraud on global warming prefer to keep quiet. Criticizing other people’s junk science is very dangerous for people living in greenhouses.
Professional climate scientists who openly criticize the global warming narrative are either retired or have been scientifically distinguished as unfireable. To my knowledge, there is no such thing as an important start-up climate scientist. Such an ambitious scientist would not last long.
There are organizations that fight against fraud about global warming, but they don’t have the government’s billion-dollar advantage to spread their message. They are always attacked by people backed in big style by big government science. The Heartland Institute and CO2 Alliance are two of many organizations that refuse.
There are many websites that are run by denizens or groups of denizens. One of the best, realclimatescience.com, run by electrical engineer Tony Heller. He happily exposes the lies of the global warming mob as well as the sensationalism of the media. His specialty is exposing falsification of climate data to make it consistent with global warming theory. If a theory doesn’t fit real-world data, data tampering is a method of promoting fraud.
People are deceived by seers or gurus who pretend to have understanding far beyond ordinary people. Such people can be called witch doctors by anthropologists who study African tribes. One must ask who were the witch doctors who misled the anthropologists? The Anthropological Society of America has released a declaration on climate change wholehearted support for global warming cheating.
I don’t see the end of junk science because there’s so much money and reliable institutions that can puncture it lack objectivity and expertise. The ideological bias of the mainstream media attracts them to any crackpot theory that calls for the government to mobilize more money and power to solve the “problem”. For them, the story of global warming is great because it creates an excuse for governments to regulate nearly everything.
One possible reform is to send money and control of scientific research to the states. That would at least provide fifty different approaches, even if some could turn out to be disastrous. It will also promote competition and diversity of opinion. Top Washington officials may be offered early retirement. Younger officials can find work with the states.
