Jindol, once a dazzling white dog, full of life and energy, has now become a shadow of her former self. Her once shiny fur was now dull, her ribs clearly visible under her skin, highlighting her weakened condition. The mischievous puppy that once made the whole neighborhood happily bark and wag his tail has now become a dignified creature, wandering aimlessly, drowning in sadness. The people of the neighborhood, familiar with her happy past, watch her transformation with keen interest. Despite their efforts to entice her with food and water, Jindol seemed aloof and barely acknowledged their efforts.
Her once sparkling eyes now reflect deep sadness, reflecting a world deprived of joy. Daniel, her new owner, was heartbroken by this scene. To him, Jindol is not only a pet but also a beloved member of the family. The death of Jindol’s original owner, who once loved Jindol, seems to have completely broken the dog’s spirit. Daniel recalls the heart-wrenching sobs and how Jindol stayed at his mother’s bedside, seemingly acutely aware of her absence.
After Jindol’s mother passed away, she wandered the streets, perhaps searching for what was lost. She walked on the familiar path they had walked together, each step a silent plea for the past. Despite his efforts with new toys and food, the veil of sadness that covers Jindol remains. However, the breakthrough came during a routine walk through the park where she used to play carefree. Suddenly, Jindol smelled a scent that made her stop. With her ears pricked and her tail wagging for the first time in months, she followed the scent trail to a deserted bench. There, nestled among the fallen leaves was a faded green blanket—the same blanket she had once snuggled under, the blanket the humans had wrapped her in as a gesture of love.
Next to the blanket, a small, worn pendant was tangled in the fabric. Daniel recognized it immediately – the pendant his mother had given Jindol, containing a lock of her hair. Mother’s faint scent still lingers on it. Overwhelmed by this discovery, Daniel placed the pendant next to Jindol on the ground. The dog nudged it affectionately with its nose, its tail wagging even harder.
As Jindol reacquainted herself with the blanket and pendant, her attitude changed. For the first time since they died, her eyes sparkled with hope. She lovingly licked the pendant and the blanket, reconnecting with the remnants of a bond that was physically absent but emotionally unbroken. Witnessing this scene, Daniel felt reassured that Jindol could once again find joy in the life they would continue to share, comforted by the enduring nature of a loved one.
