The Audi S1 Hoonitron is an electric race car inspired by the Quattro

Ken Block may be known for hooning Fords, but with the next video, he’s changing things up. Instead of Ford, he will drive an Audi. Not only that, this is a one-time customization Audi it’s completely electric. It’s called the S1 E-Tron Quattro Hoonitron, or the S1 Hoonitron for short, and it’s a great classic race car.

Apparently Hoonitron is based on Sport Quattro S1 Pikes Peak race car from the 1980s. It’s a two-door coupe with a short wheelbase and outstanding aerodynamics from the front spoiler to the rear. It also has race-inspired headlights hidden in the grille and propeller-style wheels. But there are hints of modern Audi as well, including a large grille, angry headlights, checkered LED lights and intricate taillights. Incredibly, Audi went from sketch to full-size model in just four weeks for this project. You can see the designers talking to Block about the project in the video below.

Aside from the design process, the Hoonitron itself is pretty fast, though we don’t have a clear idea of how fast. That’s because Audi hasn’t released any specifications about the car yet. All we know is that it uses two engines and is all-wheel drive. We wouldn’t be surprised if it borrowed parts from RS E-Tron GT, making 637 hp from its twin engines.

Ken Block will take the Hoonitron through its paces in a new stunt video. It will be called “Elektrikhana,” and it will release in the next few months.
