The 11 best mattress deals for Black Friday (2021): Hybrid, Organic, Foam, and Kids
If you have been tossing and turning at night, sleeping on a better mattress can make all the difference. We tested a lot, so one should fit your needs. Thankfully, mattresses are almost always discounted to some extent, so you never pay full price. Black Friday is one of the few particularly good times of the year to capture.
There are several options to make. You will need to decide if you want a composite mattress or an all-foam mattress. We like the hybrid, which incorporates multiple layers of memory foam and hundreds of individual coil springs sandwiched in between. We think they offer the best benefits of both the older innerspring foam and padding. They tend to be more supportive and have more airflow (meaning they don’t get hot at night). All foam is what you can think of when you think of a mattress in a box — just layers and layers of thick activated foam.
All prices below are for queen size mattresses. These picks have been tested by our Gear team and featured in Guide to the best mattress.

Even after testing more mattresses this year, the Helix Midnight Luxe is still our favorite. It’s plush and comfortable, and designed to prevent back pain — springs are stiffer where more support is needed. Unfortunately, it’s also super expensive and has gone up in price since last year’s Cyber Week, but if you can afford it, we think you’ll really enjoy it.
Discounts on organic mattresses
WIRED senior reviewer Scott Gilbertson says this is the only mattress he and his wife agree on, although she prefers soft mattresses and he prefers firm ones. Somehow it combines the two and has been maintained for the past year. There is also a pillow option for those who need a super soft mattress.
It’s not just comfortable. This is our favorite eco-friendly mattress, made from organic latex, wool and cotton. No polyurethane, flame retardants, active foams or chemical binders. The company is also a certified B Corporation that has purchased enough offsetting that it can be said to operate as a carbon negative business.
If you want an organic mattress for your baby, you can save some money by using this brand instead of Avocado — like Avocado, it’s made with organic latex, wool, and cotton. Reviewer Scott Gilberton tried this mattress on for his kids and he says it’s firm yet comfortable – his kids say it’s the most comfortable mattress they’ve ever tried. For $125 higher, you can opt for a double-sided option to extend the life of your mattress if your kids are on rough beds (i.e. they jump on them often).

Here’s another organic option, and it comes from Helix, the maker of our favorite bed. It has a plush and bouncy feel but not clutter. It’s also good for the stomach, side, and even sleep, but it doesn’t stay as cool as some of the other options on this list.
Comes with 2 pillows, a bed sheet and a mattress protector
WIRED writer Louryn Strampe tested both this organic Birch and Awara mattress. She finds this one to be elastic and comfortable, especially for solo sleepers, but says it’s not as supportive as the Birch. The company planted 10 trees (via tree.org) for each mattress purchased.

This is one of our honorable mentions. Its thick pillowcase is almost as beautiful as our favorite mattress, the Helix Midnight Luxe.

The Leesa Hybrid is one of the favorites of top mattress reviewer Jeffrey Van Camp. It has a smooth, textured and soft shell that is firm and relieves pressure. He said the layers of foam and springs blend together beautifully, hugging his body while sleeping. Like the Helix, it’s also expensive.

You may not know if you need a soft or a firm mattress. Layla’s mattress has two sides, so you can spend a few nights on both sides (hard and soft) to learn it. It’s all foam, so it’s not as as comfortable as a hybrid mattress, but we liked it even when sleeping on our stomachs.

We think this one is great for side sleepers. Its four layers of dense, tailored foam gently hug you while you slumber, but you don’t drown in too much. It provides a “Lifetime warranty. ”
It’s not the best deal we’ve seen, but it’s not a wash if you’re sleeping on Purple’s waffle silicon top layer. We love sleeping on it – it’s a cool and supportive Jell-O-ey – but it’s one of our honorable mentions because it’s not as comfortable as the hybrid mattress we love. Purple offers a hybrid, but it’s expensive.
We liked the Leesa Hybrid mentioned above, but this all-foam option is still more comfortable and affordable. It feels very similar to the original Foam Casper, but we like the Leesa better.
