The 10th Annual United Nations World Oceans Day Photo Contest


DPG is pleased to announce the opening of the 10th annual United Nations World Oceans Day Photo Contest, centered around the 2023 theme “Planet of the Oceans: Tides in Change”. In addition to the one-day celebration of the United Nations World Oceans Day at United Nations Headquarters in New York, this year’s pivotal competition draws on the power of art to support the call to action. the theme of putting the ocean first.

The United Nations World Oceans Day Photo Contest is a free and public competition in collaboration between the United Nations Department of Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, the DPG, Oceanic Global, Nausicaa and the Maritime Commission. The 10th Anniversary Competition offers a unique opportunity for photographers to showcase the vast breadth and depth of ocean beauty and shed light on the little-known promise and potential that abounds beneath the oceans. its waves. The winning entries will be announced during the annual United Nations World Oceans Day event on June 8 as well as broadcast live on UNTV.

In the decade since its inception, the annual competition has been curated by underwater photographer Ellen Cuylaerts and judged by a jury of world-renowned photographers. This year is no exception, with the 2023 jury boasting well-known names including wildlife photographer Rathika Ramasamy (India), wildlife photographer Rajan Desai (USA) and Underwater wildlife photographer Ipah Uid Lynn (Malaysia).
