While many of the fashion’s top names are busy accepting or presenting awards on Monday night Fashion Award in London, a select few held the fortress in NYC at the Gotham Awards 2021. One attendee in particular was Tessa Thompson, who took the opportunity to test out one of the micro-trends. Winter’s ultimate super tissue: opera gloves.
Thompson, star of Pass, one of the evening’s most nominated movies, hit the red carpet in a lilac moiré dress from Bach Mai that featured a high-low bubble hem and strapless bodice. She paired the dress with the aforementioned pair of black rubber gloves, also by Bach Mai, and a simple pair of pumps.
Her gorgeous ensemble tries to feel both reminiscent of the era of the film — set in 1920s New York City — and today, when Elbow-length gloves and moiré fabrics are both becoming popular after creating the above wave runway fall 2021 in February. Then her stylists, Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, to be some of the most famous fashion houses — of course, sleek.
