Tesla is currently allowing electric vehicles from other brands to charge at select U.S. Supercharger locations, while also offering Combined Charging Standard (CCS) retrofits to its own vehicles.
The “Select” turbocharger is now open to other EVs, according to a video posted on Twitter. Drivers can find these sites using the Tesla app, which is also needed to initiate a charging session.

As part of Tesla’s presentation at Investment Day on Wednesday, the company said this currently includes 10 Supercharger locations — so it’s not a bunch of locations.
Tesla has been testing open Supercharge in other countries since November 2021, but in the US it is an essential step for Tesla to open up “parts” of its network to models using CCS—and thus That requires federal funds. The Biden administration is releasing $5 billion in funding for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) to build a national EV charging networkwith interoperability being one of many requirements.
Concerns about more alignment with other EV charging standards go both ways. First discovered by Canadian website Tesla NorthTesla is also now offering a CCS . converter allows the maximum charge to be claimed up to 250 kW.

The converter itself retails for $175, but Tesla notes that some vehicles may require additional hardware retrofitting, bringing the price up to $450. It is also not available for all vehicles. For Model 3 and Model Y vehicles that require additional hardware, Tesla is telling customers to “please check back in mid-2023 for availability.”
However, don’t think that this means Tesla abandons its charging connector standard. it was encourage other electric vehicle brands to use the connector, which as of late 2022 is now known as the North American Charging Standard (NACS). Tesla is also continuing to expand its own network of charging stations, including megawatt charger for Cybertruck and Semi.
