Unlike many coming tram, we haven’t seen much on how Tesla Cybertruck test prototype. But it might be changing A YouTuber recently flew a drone with a camera at a Tesla facility and there are some great shots, shared by Electrek, belonging to the low-poly . group pickup truck out testing. And it’s not a show car, as there are some clearly visible tweaks and features for the production model.
One detail that really caught our eye was that oversized windshield wiper arm. That’s a huge windshield length, plus it’s just a single wiper that rotates clearly from corner to corner via a bracket in the bottom corner of the windshield. Close inspection seems to show that the arm consists of two individual blades, which can be accomplished using more easily replaceable existing sized blades. Also, because of the shape of vans very close to the display model, down to the glass that is level with the hood, the wiper arms protrude a bit oddly from the almost seamless surface.
Also featured on the side mirrors, previously seen in another video of a test truck. They look simple and functional, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing on a truck. The lighting system looks very similar to the show car, although only the hidden headlights and small rear taillights are illuminated. Between those headlights are three orange marker lights. These seem to suggest that the Cybertruck will be about the same width as trucks like F-150 Raptor, Ram 1500 TRX and GMC Hummer EV, all have that light because federal law requires wide trucks to have it.
More subtle changes are visible in the fenders, bumpers and side skirts. The flares appear a bit thicker than before, and they pair better with the bumpers and side skirts. The front bumper also seems to have added a number of ventilation holes, which is notable for the small extension in front of the front wheels. This is certainly to improve aerodynamics for more range of use. We can also make the cameras on the windshield and the B-pillars like the Tesla model, available for advanced driver assistance systems. Finally, the bed seems to have some cutouts for a panel capable of opening up a trunk, similar to Honda Ridgeline and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Tesla said Cybertruck will go into production in 2022. When it was first announced, Tesla said it would be available with one, two or three engines and a range of 250 to 500 miles. Since then, Tesla boss Elon Musk said a four-engine version will be offered with rear wheel steering.
