On the longest day of the year, I look out the window and remember that I’m still on earth anyway. Mentally, it’s a completely different story.
But at present there is only one sun that favors/destroys our planet, and for that we can be grateful, for if there were two suns, our long, tortured journey towards Going to be a cinderella in the ether becomes a lot more sprinting. I’m off topic.
There are two suns in the banner image. One is the sun, and the other is Unit Profoto 2400WS Pro. (Today’s big news from Profoto, as they’ve launched a device we’ve always wanted, an updated remote called Pro Connect. A great evolution in control and connectivity.)
And Claudia, beaming in a handmade Brazilian Samba, fixed the photo, standing there in the raw light. There are no shapers. Just a slight blast from the 2400 pack.
The light was very different from our first meeting, about a year before the mirrors, also in the desert, this time in Peru. I was greeted with a soft light in the sky and had to match it. Thus, a Profoto B1X into a 5 ′ Octa softbox. (As a general rule, the light on earth must match the light in the sky, lest there be a disturbance of force.)
Two deserts. Same topic. Very different light! And the level of effort. The boat was there for me. I doubt it’s still there. The mirror set had to be meticulously crafted. Thanks to Claudia to be great in front of the camera and to La Casa Films, who introduced us. And for Lynn DelMastro, who runs our studio production, from the set of two suns to a boat being smashed on the shore. And to Nikon, creator of the opportunity and tools to enter the field with adventure in mind and camera in hand.
