First, Gervonta Davis actually took part in a major boxing match. His knockout win over Ryan Garcia last year was widely watched and certainly paid off big. There is simply no denying the obvious: Davis-Garcia is a full-fledged super fighter. The point is, there are more famous opponents for Davis to fight, many if they are extremely talented and decorated. Vasyl Lomachenko is merely the latest name to be mentioned as a potential opponent for Davis. A fight between the in-form, highly decorated Lomachenko and the explosive and undefeated Davis would certainly attract a lot of attention.

There’s also a certain Shakur Stevenson who would also pose a serious challenge to Davis. Indeed, there are plenty of standout names for the undefeated Davis to face in the near future. The question is, will he? Fair or not, fans are wondering whether Davis is particularly interested in fighting the best in the division available. However, Davis has the opportunity to prove these naysayers wrong. First, however, the Baltimore native must get past undefeated Frank Martin this weekend in Las Vegas.
In fact, Davis is entering Saturday’s fight at MGM Grand a notable favorite. The man has power – the kind of power that legendary careers rely on. Davis also used pressure impressively and remained calm under fire while in the ring. However, Martin didn’t get to this point in his career by being a slacker. Indeed, there are hints that a stunning upset could be in store this weekend. However, if Davis wins as expected, fans and analysts will almost immediately demand he face one of the bigger names coming up. Not that Davis is guaranteed to listen.
For Davis is certainly a man who marches to the beat of his own drum. He’s not particularly flamboyant by nature, so he won’t be doing a Tyson Fury routine to bolster his profile. His history of questionable antics aside, Davis has largely established himself simply by knocking out one opponent after another. Hopefully Davis will test his famous prowess against another famous fighter soon. The public, and perhaps Davis himself, can be grateful. Yet again, it was Frank Martin who Davis had to get past first. After all, it’s not like Davis is fighting a can of tomatoes.
