Tamron warns 20mm, 24mm and 35mm F2.8 primes have AF problems with Sony a7 IV cameras: Digital photography review
Optical manufacturer Tamron issued product advice informing consumers that three of its E-mount prime lenses experienced problems that prevented them from using autofocus when recording video on the system. Sony a7 IV camera.
Notice, published by Tamron Japan, says the company has confirmed the 20mm, 24mm, and 35mm F2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 lenses, released in 2019, there was an autofocus issue when combined with Sony’s a7 IV full-frame camera system causing the lens to switch from ‘AF’ to ‘MF’ when recording movies.
Tamron hinted that it’s unlikely what’s going on, but hopes to fix the ‘phenomenon’, saying, “We’re currently investigating and will provide details on the ‘Support Information’ page at a later date. afterward.” Based on the problem, it looks like a simple firmware fix could solve this problem.
