Realizing the truth in the dead of night
Latest game in Vampire: The Masquerade the universe is just around the corner. Today developer Big Bad Wolf Studios showcased a big chunk of the game, highlighting how detective work and vampireism combine. Swan Song.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is a narrative RPG that blends aspects of traditional role-playing and adventure games. In it, players will play the role of three different Kindreds, after an incident at a party has turned the Boston vampire scene into chaos.
In the new gameplay guide, lead quest designer Eliot Hipeau and freelance writer Matthew Dawkins navigate through an investigation as Galeb. Galeb is one of the three main characters, and in this part he is investigating a murder on behalf of the Prince of Boston.
While investigating the whereabouts of treasurer Camarilla, Galeb is able to use various vampire powers to examine crime scenes. The power of persuasion and domination helps to deal with social situations. But they also pay a heavy price, and eventually a vampire needs to feed.
In Swan Songit’s like the core aspects of Vampire role-playing universe is maintained, including maintaining the Carnival and cultivating humans for power. At one point, Galeb discovered a particular target for which he had a penchant for hunting. He took the opportunity, but left the body in a place where it would eventually be discovered.
Light up the night
It’s a pretty long tutorial on that part of the game, so I won’t go into it. Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong seems to be taking a very narrative approach to Boston’s nightlife.
It lines up, as Big Bad Wolf previously worked on narrative adventure Council. And some part of this Swan Song definitely reminds me of Council. It’s a bit about the story and the duels.
If you want a little more action in your vampire game, the good news is: Bloodhuntthe Vampire battle royale, just full launch. In fact Vampire universe in the game has is rapidly expanding. Now if only we could learn more about the state of Bloodline 2.
