Surprising results when capturing raw and converting in-camera compared to in Photoshop

In this informative video from Pal2Tech, Chris Lee demonstrates how to convert raw files to TIFF or JPEG right in-camera. The results are interesting and quite surprising when images are uploaded and compared.

In-camera raw file conversion is a fairly straightforward process and probably a feature many of us don’t use (including myself). After watching this video and seeing the difference in the results, I will definitely start testing converting files in X-T4.

When zoomed in to “pixel peeping” mode, there is a clear difference between the raw image and the in-camera processed TIFF. What’s even more interesting is when Lee compared the in-camera TIFF with the converted TIFF in Photoshop, using the same file. It’s a great reminder that all of these variables can have an impact on the look and feel of the final image.

After the photography tutorial, Lee changed his mind and provided another valuable lesson, this time about the importance of family, photography, and the upsides and downsides of being a person. perfectionism. The struggle he describes when trying to capture family portraits is one of the most relatable to us as fellow photographers.
