Supersport EVO category to debut in ASBK
New Supersport class
The organized Australian Superbike Mi-bike Racing Championship has officially announced that a new class – SuperTwins Cup – will be featured from Round 1 of the 2023 ASBK Championship.
The base concept will treat the SuperTwins Cup feature as a class in the Supersport Championship, where they will be scored separately from the inline four-cylinder Supersport class.
The goal of the SuperTwins Cup is to develop a cost-effective midsize platform, as a stepping stone to the Supersport 300 class and before the bigger jump to the Superbike class.
Currently, four bikes are set to become homologous in the SuperTwins Cup
Aprilia RS 660
Kawasaki Ninja 650
Suzuki SV 650
Yamaha R7

Peter Doyle, Managing Director, Motorcycling Australia:
“The SuperTwins Cup is a new tier for the 2023 ASBK Championship that serves several goals: market relevance, affordability, easier race preparation and close race. The SuperTwins Cup has all the boxes ticked and we believe it will become a popular tournament for fans and competitors alike.
The Supersport category is the number two racing category in the ASBK Championship and featuring the SuperTwins Cup as a tier within a category, this popular and competitive category will also ensure maximum exposure.
The ASBK Championship has market relevance as the main objective of this project and this growing segment will now be represented at the peak of the sport. “
