The overall numbers show steady year-over-year gains with all indices up and trading strong.
In total, the two days of sales represent a marked improvement from 2021, with 417 horses changing hands for a total turnover of $6,693,100. The average price of $16,051 and the median price of $8,500 were achieved. The cumulative RNA rate was 10.3%. During last year’s sale, 408 horses were sold for a total of $5,612,300. Last year’s average was $13,756 and the median was $6,000.
The final session ended with 186 horses sold on Wednesday for a total of $2,075,600, while the same session a year ago had 236 horses sold for $2,023,500. OBS reported an average price increase of the session to $11,159, an improvement from 2021’s $8,574, and an average price change to $7,000, from $4,000 last year. Wednesday’s RNA rate was 8.8%.
A short-lived pony (Hip 505) named Last Drink consigned by Vacek, the dealer, topped Wednesday’s trading session at $95,000.
