Stephen Curry and Everyone: Ranked 11 of the best 3-pointers in NBA history

There aren’t too many topics that garner a broad consensus among NBA fans.

That said, the fact that basically everyone can agree on Stephen Curry being the greatest 3-point shooter to ever play the game speaks volumes about how special he is. As Curry is set to overtake Ray Allen to top the all-time list for 3-pointers, the numbers tell the story better than anyone can.

THAN: Inside the NBA’s 3-point record

As great as this list of all-time leaders is, it may not be the most accurate representation of the all-time greats. After all, the game has changed and some of the best shooters don’t have such a luxury to play in modern times where 3 balls reign supreme.

So please rate them.

At this point, we know the list is Steph and the others, so instead of the top 10, we’re going to come up with a list of the top 11 marksmen of all time, also known as the 10 men behind Curry.

By the way, counting down the greatest shooters of all time is no small feat. Take, for example, ridiculous shooters THAT I’m OFF-Bill when the top 11 are combined.

  • There is no Steve Kerr, who is the most accurate 3-pointer ever.
  • Without Dirk Nowitzki, the greatest shooting grandmaster ever.
  • No Larry Bird, the greatest shooter of the era where the 3s was introduced.
  • No Peja Stojakovic, no Damian Lillard and no JR Smith.

Now that I’ve admitted my shortcomings… let’s get to the list.

11. Steve Nash

Nash has never made more than 2.2 3s per game in a season, but he has been able to make 1,685 triples over the course of his career at a rate of 42.8%. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Former Nash head coach Mike D’Antoni said he should have begged the two-time MVP to spin more and, looking at the numbers, he’s certainly right.

10. Dale Ellis

Before his time, Ellis had racked up a career-high nine 3-pointers in April 1990. Ellis was not only a 40.3% 3-pointer in his career, he was. also sank 1,719 trios in 17 seasons (1983-2000).

9. Glen Rice

At the 2019 NBA All-Star, Rice told me “when I’m playing, if we shoot six 3-pointers as individuals [per] game, we think we shot too many thirds. Chance to get out there and maybe shoot 15 3 pointers in a game? I’m really going to hurt myself if I don’t average 30 points per game. ”

Rice is not wrong. He averages a career-high 26.8 points per game while hooking up 47.0 percent of the 5.6 3-pointers per game. Those numbers speak for themselves.

8. James Harden

Harden is on fast track to retreat behind Curry with the second-most all-time 3-second record. As Curry is in his own class for the 3-point record, Harden is the only other player to score more than 300 3-pointers in an individual season, to do so in 2018-19. For good measures, Harden also sank 299 3s during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season.

7. Drazen Petrovic

In 2016, Reggie Miller has this to say by Petrovic: “[he] is the best shooting game I have ever played. I’ve never seen anything like it. “Before a fatal car crash brought his career to a tragic end, Petrovic established himself as a stellar shooter, knocking out 3s by 43.7% over four seasons.

6. Kevin Durant

When I think of KD, I think the scorer is excellent before anything else but honestly, he wouldn’t have been without his excellent shooting ability. Durant shot 45.0 percent from 3 in 2020-21, at high volume, no less. It’s odd that at the time of this writing, the most 3s Durant achieved in one game is seven but he’s done it on six different occasions. Ask yourself, how many times do you expect KD to fail 3? No, right? I rest my case.

5. Kyle Korver

Not only did Korver finish fifth all time in 3 seconds (2,450) but he also did so scoring 42.9% of his career, including 4 different seasons in which he led the league with rate 3 points. Not bad for the 51st overall pick.

4. Reggie Miller

We have reached another level.

For a time, Miller held the crown as the all-time 3-point lead before being overtaken by Ray Allen and Curry afterward. Considering he arrived at the 1987 tournament, Miller’s ability to beat 2,560 3s over the course of 18 years was nothing short of impressive. When you think of shooters, you think of Miller, and he’s a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team because of that.

3. Ray Allen

Probably the purest jump the game has ever seen.

Allen held it for the first time in a long time, counting 2,973 triplets during his Hall of Fame career. Considering he wasn’t just a gunfighter in his prime, that’s surprising. We all know Allen for hitting some of the biggest shots in game history and stepping up to hit them as they count.

So you have to be special to stay ahead of Ray.

2. Klay Thompson

Clay is special.

NBA record 14 3s in one game? NBA Playoff record 11 3s in a knockout? An NBA record Nine 3s in a quarter? Eight 3s on the way to 60 points? I think it’s safe to say that no one is hotter than Thompson.

We haven’t seen Klay shoot in the game for over two years, but some things never go away. He’ll be right back with it when he gets back.

1. Stephen’s curry

Curry changed the game.

The all-time lead by 3 points, the change to the game today could be attributed to Curry shooting 3 points during his rise to become the best player in the league. Without his Splash Brother, Curry might have had more singles records, but Curry still has six of the top eight 3-shot seasons in league history.

THAN: All profiles of Steph Curry

He is the only player to have hit more than 400 3s in a season and also averages 5 or more 3s per game in 3 different seasons and is on his 4th goal between 2021-22. No one else in NBA history has ever done that.

Curry is in a league of his own and is the definition of one in one.
