Last summer, we a glimpse of the next generation BMW 5 Series and it dip into the mixture possibilities. Rumor has it that even M5 will become electrified. These photos seem to show rumor correct.
Identify this as a M5 and not the regular 5 Series are a few key items. First of all, this prototype was fitted with flares in the fenders to make room for the fat tires. They look like they could be temporary add-ons to this prototype, rather than the final bodywork. Besides the housing for the wider rubber, this prototype has been heavily drilled brake propeller. The front also appears multi-piston brake calipers. And at the rear, there are large cutouts on the bumper for dual exhaust pipes that weren’t present on the regular 5 Series prototype we saw last year.
For mixture In part, that’s pretty obvious. Doors with “Hybrid Test Vehicle” stickers adorn electrification BMW car prototype. And looking closely, we can see the charging door on the left front fender.
Past rumors suggest the M5 hybrid could make around 750 hp. That seems pretty doable, especially XM SUV The BMW previewed last November also produced the plug-in hybrid powertrain 740 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.
