It could just be beginning of Februarybut I’ve started spring in my mind since the calendar changed to 2022. And when it comes to the world of interior designOur home is feeling it too. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing like Warming before the fire, and I liked the comfort of a blanket over each chair. But there’s something about the refreshing inspiration that comes from opening the windows and welcoming warmer conditions. Obviously, I have a case spring feverand the only way to satisfy that is to bring some of the top decorating trends of spring 2022 into my home.
Dedicating your square footage to the upcoming spring should be a source of joy, not stress. While it can be tempting to do a complete overhaul, combined with a few new changes is a great place to start. And there’s no better way to dive in than getting expert advice and inspiration from some of the best in the biz. I contacted Tara Miller, owner and leading interior designer at Heartland interior design; Kate Lester, creative director and chief executive officer of Kate Lester Furniture; Hillary Stamm’s HMS . Furniture; Sarah Stacey, top interior designer at Interior designer Sarah Stacey; Jessica Nicastro’s Jessica Nicastro Design; and Georgie Smith and Hilary Gibbs of LIVING.

Trend #1: Trees
No surprises here — our love of tree Will never die. Especially in spring, when in some climates it can still be too cold to brave the outdoors, bringing some (or a lot!) of greenery can provide some comfort in the weather. the warmth you crave. “Choosing plants with pops of color will add vibrancy to any room,” advises Miller. “Try to choose plants that are easy to maintain or go with a fake plant for a maintenance-free route.”

Trend #2: Creative Cabinets
Updating your bathroom is a relatively inexpensive way to revitalize your entire home. A little bit of organization goes a long way and putting together a few new pieces can wake up the space. Another option to make an impact? The cabinets, of course. If it is a contemporary look that you are after, Lester recommends a vertical paneled door detail or a flat window style. Add some unique and eye-catching hardware, and you’re good to go. When it comes to spring refreshes, it makes no difference.
Trend #3: Fun in the foyer
In many homes, the foyer is a neglected space that doesn’t receive the love it deserves. But in 2022 we are changing everything. “This is a room, but more importantly, it’s the first room people see when they come to your house,” notes Stamm. The foyer will be a space with a big impact in the home this year. Don’t be afraid to make it awesome! “Try to incorporate sentimental or vintage pieces that bring personality to your space. Referring to the project above, Stamm calls her favorites, “Here, a client mom’s vintage mirror, paired with a few favorite books and baskets, creates a stylish vibe. but welcome.”
Trend #4: Color, Texture, and Warmth
Sorry to say it, but the days of all-white kitchens are over. While images of it help soothe our pandemic brains in mid-2020 and into 2021, this year it’s all about bringing organic warmth to our spaces. Nicastro likes to introduce this trend into the space through metal hardware and plumbing fixtures. “We like the matte bronze look in the kitchen that creates depth while evoking warmth.”
Along with that is the common desire of the whole team to add personality and fun to our house. “We’ll see a lot of warm wood colors and tones to really give your home a lively look,” notes Nicastro.
Trend #5: Reflecting nature through color
It’s no secret that we’ve all longed for some comfort and calm to relieve our (continuing) stress over everything we’ve been through these past two years. Spring of 2022 manifestation of that reality? An abundance of natural colors. “Think yellow, green, and orange-y red,” says Stacey. “I also think darker jewelry tones and sadder colors will become even more popular.” Best news of all? These shades are super versatile. “You can really play with them throughout your house,” says Stacey. “When using darker colors, always use a matte finish. The light color of the eggshell will even look too glossy with a darker color.” Note!
Trend #6: Sustainable = Sexy
With global warming being a major concern for most people, we are seeing a shift in people prioritizing sustainable living products and practices. Smith and Gibbs predict: “Responsibly manufactured and consciously designed products will be at the forefront of every home,” predict Smith and Gibbs. “From building materials to furniture, consumers are looking to adopt more innovative products designed from the ground up with sustainability in mind.”
What does this have to do with? Just about everything, really. There’s no part of your home that doesn’t benefit from sustainable lighting. Expect to see smart thermostats, recycled water systems and more. Conscious consumption? It’s really hot now.
Trend #7: Landscape art
That’s right, it’s no longer just hanging in a museum. Landscape art is being found in countless neighborhoods across the country. Miller shares how to make it a reality for your space: “Add a small to medium piece of landscape art to any bookshelf, nook, or kitchen counter to instantly add a dash of spirit. for your room”. If you don’t want to shell out large sums for an original work, hanging the print up will achieve the same effect.
Trend #8: American-made design
We know you know: Supply chains continue to be disrupted due to the ongoing pandemic. While we are fortunately past the season companies launch an “early shopping!” email, shipping anything on time (what else does that mean?) are no longer given. Solution: Moving towards a more localized economy. “We anticipate an increase in US-made design and domestic manufacturers,” predicted Gibbs and Smith. “Consumers have a higher awareness not only of where their products are made, but also of how they are made. They want to support companies that have a positive impact on their communities and the planet.” Prime shipping in two days? Don’t need it.
Trend #9: Bold colors for both ceiling and walls
Road painting time is self-set. While organic, nature-inspired colors will cover our walls (see trend #5), bold colors are definitely making a comeback. Spring is the perfect time to wake up your space with a little energizing paint. Miller breaks down all the ways this trend will revitalize your home. “Painting the walls and ceiling the same bold color is a dynamic trend for spring! It will give the space a sense of hospitality with high design rather than aesthetics for your home. ” Miller’s biggest tip? Proceed without fear.” Paint it all and wait a few weeks for the real change to kick in. Give yourself time to get completely used to and comfortable with your big change.” High impact, really.

Trend #10: Personalized pieces
We are dedicating mass-produced artwork to wall decoration that makes more sense and matches our personal taste. Lester attributes this to the growth of what she calls “printable art” companies. “With companies like Juniper print shop and pre-framed customizable artwork from places like Wall art, we’ll see people skip the selections at the big canteens and move on to the more interesting and unique options that are currently available. ” Bonus points for also supporting smaller, individual ads!
