Speedier Hyundai Ioniq charger, street light charger, electric bus: Car News Today

Nearly $1 billion in funds for electric school buses nationwide. Placing EV chargers on street light poles makes sense in cutting CO2. And Hyundai has claimed amazingly fast charging makes its Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models more accessible. This and more, here Green Car Report.

Hyundai is introducing the Battery Conditioner feature to help will cut real-world fast charging times for Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 2023, by warming the battery before stopping charging. With the same capability on the road for the Kia EV6, it could make all these EVs more likely to reproduce their 18-minute charge from 10% to 80% on a 350 kW CCS connector.

The EPA yesterday announced the recipients of almost 1 billion dollars for electric school buses. This immediate funding round, the first of a five-year, $5 billion program enabled by the bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021, will yield more than 2,400 large yellow electric vehicles spread across 50 state plus DC

And there is ample evidence that simply put the EV charger on the light pole is significant in reducing clutter on city streets and providing a way for apartment dwellers to own electric vehicles, charging them on the street overnight. This is also a low CO2 solution compared to other chargers, according to a new study from the UK.
