Southwest pilots join Americans in voting strike, United could be next
Earlier this month, pilots at American Airlines voted overwhelmingly in favor of the strike. They argue that wages and schedules are the main issues facing the industry, the kind of quality-of-life issue that makes work Unwanted for new face. Looks like the American pilots were right, because their partners in the Southwest have now signed a similar strike pledge-and flower maybe not far behind.
The Southwest’s strike vote passed by an even higher margin than the Americans, which is astounding. A whopping 98 percent of pilots took part in the vote, and 99 percent of the participants voted to go out. Union President Casey Murray, in a statement on strike vote, said, “The lack of leadership and the unwillingness to address organizational failures led us to this point. Our pilots are tired of apologizing to passengers on behalf of a company that refuses to prioritize domestic and foreign customers.”
United Airlines could be next, if their negotiations and selection are anything to go by. Union of United has been push management to limit the frequency of calling pilots on their days offa discussion that seemed to have gotten so heated that it pushed finance and wages behind.
Of course, standing out in the world of aviation is never easy. Pilots are bound by the same rules as railroad workers, whose strike last year was muffled by Biden A.management forces an agreement between management and the union. That agreement does not include the union’s desired personnel, sick or safety concessions, which may have nothing to do with The series of horrible derailments and accidents we’ve seen in recent months.
