Effects of Salmonella infection
Salmonella can affect both humans and dogs. It can spread between people and pets, or it can be spread through contaminated objects. Dogs with no symptoms can still carry the bacteria and pass it on to others.
Pets infected with Salmonella may experience lethargy, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, or loss of appetite. Symptoms can get worse if left untreated.
Humans can experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. In rare cases, it can lead to conditions like arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, urinary tract infections, and eye irritation.
If any person or pet is experiencing symptoms associated with Salmonella, contact a health professional immediately. The sooner the problem is resolved, the better.
