Today, the winners of the Hasselblad Masters 2021 competition were announced. Photographers from around the world submitted a set of 3 photos, totaling 63,000, for 12 categories including Atmosphere, Architecture, Portrait, Product and Heritage – a newly added category to celebrate the camera manufacturer’s 80th anniversary. A jury, including our own Isabella Tabachi, Tyler Shields, and Damien Demolder was part of the Grand Jury.
Winner in the air Florian Ledoux have something to say to DPReview: ‘As a photographer using a Hasselblad camera through drone technology to capture the Art of Nature, it is one of the greatest honors to win the title of Hasselblad Master. I believe this will lead to great joint projects and collaborations with Hasselblad that I love for their quality and knowledge of the equipment we need to capture the Art around us.
These Hasselblad Master Aerial Award-winning images are the result of ten years of commitment to revealing the beauty of powerful yet fragile poles. Creating a craft that represents the Art of Nature is more than just what you see on the surface. It is an emotional journey that begins deep within our subconscious. It eventually emerges in our minds, reaching to the depths of our hearts before continuing to flow through our blood to the tool that helps us capture the elegance and grace of the natural world.
I believe this series shows the positive effects that aerial photography can have, revealing species in a way never seen before. Hasselblad camera mounted on a drone (DJI Mavic 2 Pro) then became an extension of my soul and heart, opening up creative possibilities beyond limits. ‘
Winners will receive a Hasselblad medium format camera in 2022. All winning images in their entire set can be viewed on Camera brand website. Those hoping to compete in the future should also note that the use of Hasselblad cameras is not required.
