Skoda Octavia and Superb recalled due to fire risk

Skoda Australia has recalled 3801 examples of the Octavia and Superb, due to a manufacturing fault which could lead to a fire.

The fault affects Skoda Octavias and Superbs built between 2020 and 2024.

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the heat shield between the brake master cylinder and the exhaust may have been incorrectly fitted,” Skoda says in its recall notice.

“As a result, a connection to the brake fluid reservoir could melt. If this occurs, brake fluid may leak and cause a reduction in braking performance and/or if brake fluid leaks on to a hot exhaust there is a risk of a vehicle fire.

“A reduction in braking performance and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage property.”

  • A total of 3801 vehicles are affected

Owners of affected Skoda Octavias and Superbs have been advised to contact their preferred Skoda dealership to have their vehicles inspected and the fault rectified, free of charge.
