SkinMedica HA5 Hydra Collagen Treatment Reduced My Wrinkles
Every year, as the humidity drops and the leaves begin to lose their pigment, my summer skin begins to lose its radiance. My dry, dull skin in early fall can’t disguise any of the wrinkles and fine lines That summer seemed much more forgiving. Basically, I struggled to find some kind of Extremely good rejuvenating and moisturizing creamSerum or oil that helps repair and restore sun damage.
That is Where SkinMedica appearsSkin care product line, powered by the Botox Allergan brandonly Launch of upgraded version one of their most effective hydrating and plumping products, and it’s really saved my face this fall.
SkinMedica HA5 Hydra Collagen Supplement
Original of the brand SkinMedica HA5 Rejuvenating MoisturizerPacked with peptides, vitamin E, and the brand’s proprietary blend of five unique hyaluronic acids, it’s been a staple in my skincare routine for years now. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, SkinMedica decided to create a treatment that’s even more soothing than its award-winning product.
SkinMedica HA5 Skin Rejuvenating Serum
The SkinMedica HA5 Hydra Collagen Supplement—which now contains the brand’s patented collagen complex—launched in late August. I tested the new product by using two pumps every morning and evening without any other creams or serums. In just one week, my dry, flaky, and dull skin felt softer, firmer, and smoother, likely because the product primarily acts as a humectant, “meaning it draws moisture into the skin, providing temporary plumpness and hydration,” Kathleen C. Suozzi, MDAssociate Professor, Department of Dermatology at Yale School of Medicine and Director, recounts Style.
Surprisingly, according to Suozzi, it’s not collagen that does the job. “It’s important to note that this product does not deliver collagen into the skin,” she says. Instead, it’s meant to hydrate the skin and improve the skin’s moisture barrier, “which may indirectly support the skin’s natural collagen by maintaining a healthy environment for skin cells.”
Dr. Shannon Humphreymedical director at Humphrey & Beleznay Cosmetic Dermatology, explains to Style that the combination of hyaluronic acid and collagen gives users “an instant, more intense feeling of hydration that’s been shown to last for 48 hours”—compared to eight hours with the original product. Aside from the fact that my skin felt smooth as soon as I applied the product, I also appreciated its texture. While it’s thick and creamy, it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a sticky residue, making it a great choice for use under SPF and any makeup.
While it costs significantly more than the original treatment, the newer version definitely works as a standalone product. Honestly, I don’t feel the need to apply additional moisturizer or serum during the day, which I often do with other products. And, even if I don’t add extra cream at night, my skin still feels hydrated in the morning.
TL;DR? After just one week of use SkinMedica HA5 Hydra Collagen Supplementmy skin is radiant again, and my fine lines and wrinkles are much smoother. Below, shop more of my favorite products from the brand.
