One of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ most luxurious brands is coming to the US mountains.
Six Senses Telluride is slated to open in 2028, IHG announced Monday. The 77-room, 24-suite Colorado location will be IHG’s first luxury resort and residential property in North America’s Mountain West. The property will be located just above Telluride in Mountain Village, in a box canyon surrounded by the San Juan Mountains—a noble name for towering peaks, you might say.
A pedestrian gondola connects Mountain Village to historic Telluride in just 13 minutes, and the resort is 7 miles from Telluride Regional Airport (TEX), a better served 68-mile drive from Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) and a 387-mile drive from Denver International Airport (DEN).
This year-round property would be a great place for those looking for a ski retreat in the winter or to immerse themselves in nature in the spring and summer. Six Senses Telluride is also the newest property in IHG Ultra-luxury brands take off in the Americasinclude Regent Santa Monica Beach is opening soon in Southern California. For Six Senses specifically, IHG has upcoming U.S. openings scheduled for the Napa area of California and South Carolina Island.
Six Senses La Sagesse opened earlier this year in Grenada, and Six Senses Grand Bahama in the Bahamas and Six Senses Xala on Mexico’s Pacific coast are in development. IHG has acquired Six senses And regent in recent years aimed at providing ultra-luxury branded services that surpass the company’s InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand.
Back in Colorado, the Six Senses development team is planning to continue the brand theme of immersing itself in the surrounding context of each property — something TPG has noticed during visits to the brand’s properties in Roman And Thailand.

“Being an active part of the community is incredibly important to us, so what better place to start our North American mountain adventure than Telluride, with the global flair of Mountain Village and the quaint nature of the town below,” Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, said in a statement. “Having lived in the Colorado Rockies in the 1980s, I can attest that the mountain environment is a perfect fit for expressing our values of wellness and sustainability today.”
Guest rooms, family rooms and suites are expected to feature natural materials that are in keeping with the surrounding environment and local history, with stone cladding and local cedar. The 24 branded residences will have two to five bedrooms.
Guests and residents can expect services like ski guides and an on-site experience team to provide the best advice on hiking, rafting and destination dining in the area. Planned restaurants and bars for Six Senses Telluride include a gourmet restaurant, an omakase restaurant, a rooftop pool venue (expected to be the only one of its kind in Telluride) and a speakeasy.
Of course, this is Six Senses we’re talking about, so health and wellness are at the forefront of the guest experience. Six Senses Spa Telluride will feature saunas, cryotherapy, and ancient healing practices that incorporate sound and human touch.
Bottom line: If you arrive stressed, we can almost guarantee you won’t make it to the checkout counter.
