While horror fans wait with dread to see what Konami will do with Silent Hill next, several people important to that series have announced a new horror game of their own, Slitterhead. Revealed during tonight’s The Game Awards, it comes from Bokeh Game Studio, who are led by Silent Hill director Keiichiro Toyama and boast several others from the Silent Hill and Siren games. Check out the announcement trailer below for some incredibly nasty monsters raging in a city.
I really, really liked the way that last shot wasn’t about horror emerging from a normal-looking person, but something terrible slithering away to hide inside a normal-looking person. Now it’s horrible, honey.
For what it really is, well, you’d assume more action than usual survival horror. What with all the dramatic and deadly jumps. A mystery for now.
Bokeh Game Studio is led by Keiichiro Toyama, who served as the director of the first Silent Hill and also directed the original Siren games. He’s joined by people including concept artist Siren Miki Takahashi and character designer Siren Kazunobu Sato. And as you can tell from that trailer, iconic Silent Hill composer Akira Yamoka is involved.
There is no word on when Slitterhead will launch, nor on what platforms. Their website no more info, though their YouTube channel Have a chat with some people in the group. I will be happy to look forward to this.
This reminds me that Japanese action-horror game Ghostwire: Tokyo is coming out in 2022 (or was it last we heard). It was made by Tango Gameworks, the Bethesda studio, who made The Evil Within under the direction of Resident Evil 4 director Shinji Mikami. You know, it’s a shame not to be at The Game Awards tonight. Last we saw was the ghost punch Ghostwire Game Trailer at notE3 2020.
