Police said three people were shot dead minutes apart in a convenience store in Yakima, Wash., early Tuesday morning, and the murder suspect is still at large.
Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jarid Haddock and released him this picture from a surveillance video to the public. in a statement On Twitter, Murray urged the public to call 911 if they spotted Haddock and warned people not to get near him.
In an early morning Press ConferenceMurray described the incident as two separate shootings — one at a Circle K convenience store and one across the street — by the same gunman and taking place within minutes of each other.
“The first shooting took place inside [Circle K] shop. He then went out and shot a victim outside the store. Then he crossed the street and apparently shot another person,” Murray said.
“It looks like it was a random situation,” the sheriff said. “There was no apparent conflict between the parties. The man just walked in and started shooting.”
Initially, police believed there could be a fourth victim, who they believe may have been killed when the shooter walked up to a parked car and shot inside. According to the video, Murray said: “You could see the whole group in that car moving to the passenger seat and then the suspect stole his car.”
A few hours later, the police speak new information “suggests there may not be a fourth shooting victim (in Arco).”
The suspect fled in the same car – a gray or silver sedan that police believe was a 200 Chrysler.
