ShoBox: The New Generation is back Friday night with a three-match pass that airs live from Atlantic City, New Jersey. Thing started with a scheduled 8th round match in the Korean weight division, where Janelson Bocachica 17-0-1 beat Roiman Villa 24-1. Bocachica was active in the first part, while Villa remained patient most of the time.

Villa’s series of thunderous punches early in the second half left Bocachica on the field. Bocachica passes the count and Villa breaks. Bocachica then lost his mouth 3 times, which gave him a much needed time to recover, but also cost him one point on the cards.

In recognition of his merit, Bocachica survived the round. However, Villa continued to press the field in the third half. He also has consecutive hits to the head and torso. It seems that in the fourth season, maybe all Bocachica can do at that point is survive. However, Bocachica survived, no matter how effectively Villa confronted him with aggression.

Villa continued to chop down his elder brother in the fifth round while Bocachica continued to play. By the sixth, it was clear that each man had lost more energy than he had earlier in the game. Both boxers trade skins on Saturday. Game eight is competitive, though it’s hard to see Bocachica win without knocking out or stopping Villa outright.

Villa simply hit harder shots in round eight and, ultimately, helped him win the unanimous decision on the referee’s card.

Next, Bernard Torres 16-0 faced Frency Fortunato 13-1 in the scheduled 10th division match. The significantly taller Fortunato looked better the first time around when he launched his stab, but Torres began to use aggressiveness effectively in the second. Torres continued to try to penetrate Fortunato’s defence in the third half. The fourth game was a bit tense, as Fortunato put Torres on the carpet – even though Torres beat the score.

Frency Fortunato landed well with a one-to-two combo in the fifth inning, while Torres had his moments. Each shot the heavy pelt in the sixth section. The fight remains close and interesting in season seven. By day eight, the action begins to slow down a bit. However, Torres could still start with his man at the end of the half.

Torres set the action in ninth. The 10th and final round saw Torres unleashing fierce punches, while Fortunato unleashed his tough shots. In the end, the referees awarded the victory to Fortunato through a split decision.

It was time for the main event, the scheduled middle school 10th round match between Joseph Adorno 16-1-2 and Hugo Alberto Roldan 21-0-1. Things started off smoothly as Roldan lunged forward and both men quickly got down to business. Roldan continues to charge forward for a second, keeping the pace of the fight fast. Adorno, however, was able to score a lightning strike.

Alberto fought in a smart defensive fashion in the third round, landing well at times while not being frequently attacked by Roldan. Alberto seemed to have rocked his man by the end of the fourth inning. By the time the fifth rolled, it was Alberto who put the pressure on. Roldan continued to fight at high speed in the sixth round, but it was Alberto who had the upper hand.

Things are slowing down a bit into season seven, as each one fights at a deliberate pace. Alberto is confident his hit will carry him through season eight, though Roldan continues to push for action. Alberto maintained his defensive tactics in the ninth. The tenth and final inning saw Alberto trying to get past his men while Roldan attacked the preface like he had for most of the fight.

The judges ruled in Alberto’s favor in a unanimous decision.
