Shark attacks divers off UK coast | UK News
A diver who was attacked by a shark off the UK coast has injured his leg and has to be taken to hospital, the Coast Guard said.
The victim was met by a rescue team at Penzance Harbor in Cornwall on Thursday after a suspected shark bite.
Shark Attacks are very rare in UK waters and this will be the first report of injuries since 2018.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coast Guard said: “HM Coastguard has dispatched the Penzance Coast Rescue Team to meet a diver suspected of being bitten by a shark.
“The Coast Guard was notified shortly before 12.30pm on Thursday, July 28. It is believed the swimmer suffered a leg injury.
“The Coast Guard met the victim at Penzance harbor to assist in getting them into ambulance care.”

The local ambulance commission confirmed that paramedics were called to an incident on the coast in Penzance, and a patient was taken to a hospital in Truro.
In 2018, a fisherman was was bitten on the leg by a shark after pulling the animal onto his boat off the coast of Cornwall.
