Senator Brady Tkachuk reacts to the King’s Brendan Lemieux biting his hand: ‘Babies do it’

Things escalated quickly in a scuffle between Senator striker Brady Tkachuk and Kings striker Brendan Lemieux on Saturday night.

At the end of the third inning of the Kings’ 4-2 victory, Tkachuk and Lemieux drew at the opening whistle and earned a double three for rough conduct. As Tkachuk got up to slide towards the penalty area, he showed officials a bloody hand and claimed that Lemieux had bitten him.

Upon reconsideration, Lemieux was awarded a penalty and sent off.

Tkachuk was still angry with Lemieux after the match.

“It’s the dumbest thing someone can do,” said Tkachuk, according to Bruce Garrioch, an Ottawa Sun columnist. “Man, you can ask any of his teammates, no one wants to play with him, this guy is a bad guy and a bad teammate, he’s always focused on himself.”

He continued his words, saying, among other insults, that Lemieux was a “joke” and a “brick” and shouldn’t be in the NHL.

“Kids don’t even do that anymore. Children do it,” Tkachuk said, according to Garrioch.

Tkachuk will have more time to recover. The Senators’ next game is Wednesday when they host the Canucks game in Ottawa.
