Second sidecar competitor in TT crash has passed away
Olivier Lavorel died of his injuries at TT 2022
Sidecar competitor Olivier Lavorel, from Sillingy, France, has died from a serious injury he sustained during an incident during the opening lap of the first Sidecar Race of the Isle of Man TT 2022 Race. on Saturday, June 4.
The crash happened at Ago’s Leap, less than a mile from the pitch, and also claimed the life of Olivier’s teammate, César Chanel.
Olivier was airlifted to a hospital in Liverpool before being transferred to a hospital in France at the end of June, where he continued his treatment.
In a tragedy and unfortunate mistake, Lavorel was initially reported dead at the scene by officialsbecause they believe it is believed that César Chanel has survived.
Days later, it was revealed that they had misidentified the couple, and that Chanel died at the scene, while Lavorel survived.
But now, nearly five months later, Lavorel is finally coming to terms with his injury.
Both Olivier and César are newcomers to the Isle of Man TT Races in 2022 but are already an experienced couple, winning multiple and winning multiple championships in the F1 and National Sidecar Championships and French F2.
