Seahawks’ DK Metcalf Explains What Led to Late Dismissal vs. Packers: ‘I’m Tired of Losing’

DK Metcalf doesn’t like missing snaps. That’s part of the reason he’s played more than 82% of Seattle’s offensive games so far in the 2021 NFL season.

It was also part of the reason he managed to be on the field in the final minutes of the Seahawks game against the Packers despite being pushed out.

That’s right, Metcalf was brought on at the last minute of Seattle’s 17-0 loss at Green Bay. He got into a fight with several Packers – Henry Black, Adrian Amos and Eric Stokes – and grabbed both Black and Stokes with their masks. He also appeared to throw a punch at Stokes.

The game was mostly decided, so the umpires threw three penalty flags and knocked Metcalf out of the game. He tried to sneak back into the game, but officials caught it immediately and sent him back to the locker room.

After the match, Metcalf explained what was going through his head as he was pushed out.

“I’m tired of losing,” he told reporters after the game.

Metcalf’s frustration is understandable. The Seahawks have lost four of their last five games and the offense has not played continuously since Russell Wilson suffered a finger injury in Week 5.

Wilson returned from that injury Sunday against the Packers, but he had his share of the pitch problem. As a result, Metcalf had a hard time participating in the Seahawks’ lifeless attack.

Metcalf saw eight goals in the game but only caught three passes for 26 yards as a result. It marks his lowest total yards received in the 2021 season and sixth-lowest total in 41 career games.

Metcalf said: “I think it was an offense, we struggled to get the ball moving. “I’ve got a few important drops that I’ve caught. We have to act… and when Russ gets it into our area, we have to catch it.”

Metcalf will have a chance to make more plays in the future. Wilson is back from injury ahead of time, so he’ll be better off getting closer to the six- to eight-week recovery timeline he initially faced.

That will likely help the Seahawks’ offense – which has never ceased with Wilson at the helm ahead of Sunday’s game against the Packers – and alleviate Metcalf’s frustration.

That said, he will need to be a bit calmer on the pitch to move forward. The NFL could choose to remind him of that with a fine before Week 11.
