Seacam launches Sony a9 III camera case

Seacam is now shipping its latest housing for the latest addition to Sony’s full-frame mirrorless camera lineup— a9 Mark III. This groundbreaking camera was the first to feature a full-frame shutter, meaning every pixel on the image sensor is read simultaneously rather than gradually scanning across it. This has unique benefits for both underwater photographers and videographers, including the ability to sync flash at any speed and completely eliminating “rolling shutter.”

Like other Sony housings from Seacam—for a1/a7S III and for a7R Vfor example—the new a9 III camera housing is marked “compact,” reflecting the diminutive form factor of Sony’s Alpha 7 and Alpha 9 series cameras, but still has the same premium look and finish we’ve come to expect from Seacam. As usual, the housing is milled from a lightweight saltwater-resistant metal alloy that’s been double-hardened and anodized, and uses top-quality materials, including stainless steel and anodized aluminum buttons and dials, giving you full control over the camera’s functions. The two housings are secured with the company’s titanium security locking system.

Rated to 260 feet (80 meters), the housing features a removable built-in handle and a see-through window for viewing the camera’s LCD screen. The housing can be configured with an S6 or N5 baffle for reliable electric flash triggering, and you have the option of connecting a monitor/recorder via HDMI. Seacam’s optical-acoustic leak detector comes standard, with a vacuum valve and pump purchased separately.

Seacam cases for the a9 III are available at retailers such as Back reflectionpriced at $5,710.
