We started hearing about Volkswagenhas been taking over the Scout brand for so long now that you’d be forgiven if you completely forgot what was going on. Waiting to see what Car‘s coming to an end, however, as the company recently announced that it will unveil the next generation tram at an event on October 24.
The launch will come exactly 44 years after the last Scout rolled off the production line, but while the new models will likely be nostalgic and reminiscent of enthusiasts, they won’t be the powerful gas-powered off-roaders their predecessors were.
Scout’s announcement email notes that there will not be many new information before revealing: “While you won’t see many teasers or taillights from us between now and October 24, here’s what I can tell you. Just like the original, you’ll know a Scout when you see one. A bold, iconic design with multifunctional spaces to gather and connect. Built for work and play, our new Scout SUV and truck “They will be rugged, capable and versatile. They have to be so that they can wear the Scout badge with confidence. And with real tactile controls and real feel, they will meet the needs of Americans on the road and beyond.”
It seems VW has learned its lesson with the touch controls in the new carBut beyond that, the Scout brand is leaning heavily on its heritage. That could be a smart move, since those looking to Classic Scout are typically people who appreciate the sound, smell, and feel of classic American engines and design. Interestingly, this unveiling event will come long before the car’s actual release, which could be in late 2025 or later.
We don’t know much about new modelbeyond the vague teaser images Scout has shared. The photo sent with the reveal announcement shows what appears to be a high-mounted compass, which could mean the automaker will make it into the Brand factor. We’ll have to wait until late October to find out.
