Samurai slasher Trek To Yomi looks very stylish
It was six months long because we haven’t seen anything about Walk to Yomi, a stylish samurai game by developer Flying Wild Hog in collaboration with filmmaker and game developer Leonard Menchiari. But publisher Devolver Digital yesterday revealed a new gameplay trailer that showcases a mix of exploration and combat and yes, it still looks great.
Cor, that striking black and white look is back again too. A great homage to old samurai movies, with that cracked grain on it. I was also impressed by the voice acting, which seems to be in line with the feudal era, with lines like “Tell me what you’ve learned, Hiroki,” delivered with a profound explosion.
It looks like the discovery feature picks up a wider camera angle, the kind you’ll find in puzzle games, where you run about looking for levers to pull and pots to smash. As for combat, however, a special side-scrolling feature is implemented for maximum style. Seriously, the arena at 37 seconds looks like the trump card, with duels taking place behind paper screens for some shaded slices.
Trek To Yomi is coming to PC, Xboxes and PlayStations in 2022. It Steam page Also increased.
